A very stylish Art deco octagonal powder feeder compact made in France by Plassard c. 1930. The top and bottom of the chrome-plated case have gorgeous art deco geometric designs. The case also has a strong full-width hinge and it opens with a press button catch. The case wall is inscribed Plassard Paris-France. The compact was advertised in France in the 1930s and it was patented in 1931 by Joseph-Eugene-Baptiste Maillard. This compact is one of the older Plassard compacts because it is marked patent pending. The mirror, which fits into the lid, is in good shape with no cracks or chips. The compact still operates by turning the thumb wheel which engages a cog wheel that moves the rouge powder from the edges of the powder well up into the central chamber. A lovely Deco item that you won't easily find again.
